Terra Verde was founded in 2010 by Janet Hartley at my home in Granby, Massachusetts.  I produce a carefully selected variety of hanging baskets, annuals, perennials, tomato and pepper seedlings, herbs, and succulents.  I grow my plants using sustainable, eco-friendly methods that never include dangerous synthetic pesticides.

I strive to provide my customers with the plants, knowledge, and encouragement to make their world more beautiful.  Gardening doesn’t have to be a chore.  If you set yourself up for success, you can create beautiful living art that is a joy to care for.

Educational Background

As an undergrad at the University of California, Davis, I studied Plant Science with a Floriculture/Nursery Management emphasis.  I stayed at UC Davis for graduate studies in Horticulture, where I researched ways to minimize Nitrogen leaching from greenhouse crops through the use of controlled release fertilizers.

I completed a Certificate in Landscape Design from the Landscape Institute at the Boston Architectural College in 2013.

Also in 2013, I became a NOFA (Northeast Organic Farming Association)-accredited Organic Land Care Professional.  I have maintained my accreditation by earning a prescribed number of Continuing Education Units each year.
